Privacy Policy
Overview
Dino Strata (the "App") is an on-device iPhone digging and fossil-collecting game that requires no account. Your fossil log, depth, Excavation Points, dig team levels and settings are stored only on your iPhone and are not sent to our servers. We operate no dedicated server and never receive or store that data.
The App does, however, show ads via Google AdMob. To serve and measure those ads, Google obtains and uses some ad-related data. This page explains what that involves and the choices available to you.
1. Data Stored On Your Device (Not Sent to Our Servers)
The following is stored and processed only on your iPhone and is never transmitted to us:
- Which species you have discovered and your fossil log completion
- In-game balances such as Excavation Points and Specimen Value, and your permanent multiplier
- Your current and deepest strata depth, era band reached, and dig team hires and levels
- Offline reward state and the daily counters for optional rewarded ads
- Sound, vibration, notification, auto-dig and accessibility preferences
- Whether the Premium (one-time) purchase is active
Because this data is not sent to us, we cannot view or collect it. There is no account and no cross-device sync, so deleting the app or resetting the device may erase on-device data. See section 2 for the optional iCloud backup.
2. iCloud Backup (Optional, and Not a Sync)
The App can save a single backup of your progress to your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud key-value store. This exists for disaster recovery — it is not device-to-device synchronization.
- Backing up happens when you tap the backup button in Settings; restoring happens only after you confirm a dialog that shows what the backup contains.
- The backup holds the same on-device game data listed in section 1. It contains no name, email address or contact information.
- It is stored in your iCloud account under Apple's terms and privacy policy. We have no access to it and cannot read, retrieve or delete it.
- Your local save is always kept, so restoring never destroys your only copy without your confirmation.
- You can remove the data at any time by signing out of iCloud or deleting the app's iCloud data in iOS Settings.
3. Data Collected For Ads (Google AdMob)
The App shows Google AdMob rewarded video ads only — there are no banners and no forced interstitials, and watching is always optional. To deliver, measure and protect ads from fraud, Google (and partner ad providers) may obtain and use the data types below. This matches the App Store "App Privacy" label and the App's privacy manifest.
| Data type | Category | Linked to you | Used to track | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Device ID | Identifiers | Yes | Yes | Third-party advertising |
| Advertising Data | Usage Data | Yes | No | Third-party advertising |
| Product Interaction | Usage Data | Yes | No | Third-party advertising |
| Coarse Location | Location | Yes | No | Third-party advertising |
| Crash Data | Diagnostics | No | No | Analytics |
| Performance Data | Diagnostics | No | No | Analytics |
| Other Diagnostic Data | Diagnostics | No | No | Analytics |
This data is processed under Google's privacy policy and ad practices. See How Google uses data on partner sites and the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Tracking and ATT (App Tracking Transparency)
Of the above, only the Device ID is used for cross-app/site advertising tracking. In line with iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT), the App shows a permission prompt before any tracking. Every feature of the App works whether or not you allow tracking — declining simply makes ads less personalized.
You can change ATT permission at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
5. Ad Consent (Google UMP)
Depending on your region's laws (such as GDPR in the EU/EEA and the UK), the App may present a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). When shown, you can choose whether to consent to ad-related data use, and your choice is applied to subsequent ad delivery. You can reopen those choices from "Ad privacy options" in the App's Settings.
Ad content is rated "general."
6. Purchases (App Store / RevenueCat)
Premium (a non-consumable one-time purchase, US$5.99 / ¥1,000) is processed by Apple's App Store (StoreKit) under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. We never see or access your name, email, billing address, credit card number, or any payment information.
We use RevenueCat to manage entitlement state (whether Premium is active). To validate purchases, anonymous identifiers and purchase/receipt information are sent to RevenueCat; we do not link these to personal information such as your name. In the App Store "App Privacy" label this is declared as "Purchases" (not linked to you, not used for tracking). See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.
7. Notifications
The App's reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device. It is not sent from a server, and no push token or device identifier is transmitted to us for it. At most one reminder a day is scheduled, and only when offline rewards are actually waiting for you. You can turn it off in the App's Settings or in iOS Settings > Notifications.
8. What We Do Not Collect
- Contact information such as name, email, phone number, or address
- Precise (GPS-level) location
- Photos — the App does not request access to your photo library at all, neither to read nor to write
- Contacts, calendars, microphone, camera, or other on-device content
- Health or financial information
There is no account system, and no login or sign-in is required.
9. Children's Privacy
The App has no age gate or parental controls. Because it shows ads, please use it under a guardian's supervision. We do not directly collect personal information such as a name from children.

If we change this policy, we will update this page and revise the date above. For material changes affecting data handling, we will make it clear in the app or the App Store description before the change takes effect.
