Frequently Asked Questions
How does offline progress work?
Your dig team's damage per second keeps being applied while the app is closed. When you come back, the game replays what your team would have done — clearing layers, earning Excavation Points, and turning up fossils — and hands you the result. Up to 8 hours accrues while you're away (24 hours with Premium). The base reward is unconditional, immediate and free; the optional ad only doubles it. Note that your own taps are not counted offline, and your team does not buy upgrades while you're away, so its digging speed stays fixed for that stretch.
It said "the team stalled on a layer that is too tough for them right now."
That means your dig team ran into a layer it can't break at its current speed, so the rest of your time away didn't add more depth. Nothing was lost — it is the game's way of saying it's time to spend points on upgrades, or to descend and take the permanent multiplier.
It said my time away couldn't be verified and no offline progress was added.
Offline progress is calculated from the device's clock, cross-checked against a clock that can't be moved backwards. If the device clock jumps forward, is set backwards, or the stretch can't be verified after a restart, the game skips that one payout rather than guessing. Nothing is taken away from you, and normal time away — the device simply sitting in your pocket — always counts. If you keep seeing it, check that Date & Time is set automatically in iOS Settings, and get in touch if it persists.
Is Premium a subscription? What's in it?
No. Premium is a one-time purchase (US$5.99 / ¥1,000, non-consumable) with no auto-renewal and no further charges. It includes: no ads (and because ads are gone, the same boost is yours three times a day without watching anything), offline progress up to 24 hours instead of 8, and auto-dig, which taps for you at a steady rate so your hand can rest. Everything in the game is still reachable without paying — Premium removes waiting, not content.
How do I restore my purchase?
Tap "Restore purchase" in Settings. Premium is non-consumable, so it can be restored after changing or reinstalling on a device, as long as you're signed in with the same Apple Account used for the purchase. If it doesn't appear, restart the app, confirm you're signed in with that same Apple Account, then contact us below.
Where is my progress stored? I want to switch devices.
Your fossil log, depth, dig team, point balances and settings are stored on your iPhone. They are not sent to our servers, and we cannot view or collect them. Deleting the app or resetting the device erases them.
Before switching devices, open Settings and tap "Back up to iCloud now", then on the new device tap "Restore from iCloud" and confirm the summary it shows you. This is a manual backup and a manual restore for disaster recovery — it is not live device-to-device sync, so anything you play after the backup was taken won't be in it. Premium itself is reactivated separately with "Restore purchase" using the same Apple Account. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Tell me about the ads.
Ads are rewarded video only — there are no banners and no forced interstitials, and nothing ever interrupts you mid-dig. There are exactly two of them, both optional: double points for 15 minutes, and doubling an offline reward you have already received in full. Rewards are fixed, and are only granted once the video finishes. If an ad can't load, nothing is charged and every feature keeps working. Premium removes ads for good.
Is there a gacha or a loot box?
No. Which fossil comes out of the rock is random, but Excavation Points cannot be purchased — they come only from digging, idle time and optional ads. There are no paid random mechanics and no randomized item is ever sold. The only paid item is Premium, a one-time purchase that grants fixed, guaranteed features.
What is "descending", and do I lose my fossils?
Descending (prestige) starts a fresh dig in older strata. You lose your current depth, Excavation Points and dig team levels; you keep your fossil log, your records, and the Specimen Value you earned — which becomes a permanent multiplier that makes every future dig faster and takes you deeper than before. No fossil you have discovered is ever lost. The game tells you when descending would actually gain you something.
Can I turn off the flashing, the shaking, the sound or the vibration?
Yes, each separately. Reduce effects turns off screen shake, flashes and flying debris while digging works exactly the same; Sound effects and Vibration have their own switches, and the game is fully playable with both off. Rarity is never shown by colour alone — frame shape and star count read it too — and abbreviated numbers like 4.83K are read out properly by VoiceOver.
How do I change or stop the daily reminder?
The App's reminder is a local notification on your device, sent at most once a day at 8 PM, and only when offline rewards are actually waiting for you. You can change it in either of these ways:
- Toggle "Daily reminder" on or off in the App's Settings.
- Adjust permission, style and scheduling in iOS Settings > Notifications > Dino Strata.
Everything works whether or not you allow notifications.
A species' name, period or description looks wrong. Where do I report it?
Please let us know. Every species is real, and we take the fossil log seriously. Scientific names, periods and localities come from the Paleobiology Database (CC BY 4.0) and each entry shows its taxon ID; body length and diet are editorial estimates that the source does not cover, and entries say so. Email us the species and what you noticed, and we'll review it and correct it in a data update if needed — fossil data can be corrected without an app update. Bear in mind that restorations are interpretations: other reconstructions exist, and the illustrations are watercolor-style generative-AI art rather than photographs. See Sources & Credits.
Can I get a refund?
All billing and refunds are handled by Apple; we cannot issue refunds directly. Request one at Apple's reportaproblem.apple.com.
